We have a new word in our house, and a new, exuberant young artist to go along with it. Inspired by her big brother (and maybe her mommy, too), Molly loves nothing more lately than to be given a piece of paper so she can "daw!"
Her scrawling compositions have (thankfully) been largely contained to paper so far, but at this point she enjoys the process much more than the finished product. A typical art session involves her:
- pounding her palms ferociously against the desk that stores the art supplies
- clambering up on to the desk to raid these supplies
- squealing after she succeeds in getting a marker or a crayon in her hot little hands
- obsessively uncapping and re-capping markers and stowing them in odd places for safekeeping, like the bathroom or the back lawn
- or, alternately, chewing on a crayon until her mouth is stained Crayola, and all that remains is a soggy, lifeless stick of "carnation pink."
But once she gets down to work? This little monkey means business! Stay tuned for the next installment of our Kitchen Artwork Series, tentatively titled, There's a New Kid in Town.
