December, All Wrapped Up

All of the holiday merriment on our December calendar kept us pretty busy, but it was also a month filled with lots of excitement of the non-Yule variety. We had playdates, sunny days, gymnastics lessons, lots of playtime, and best of all, a new driveway, complete with a cement mixer in our front yard!

Clara almost wet her pants when one of her favorite friends, Claire Birdsey, came over for a playdate wearing the same dress as her!

The Clara/ Claire duo absolutely baffled the construction crew that was pouring the new driveway that day. They did double take after double take, trying to compute how these two blondies were not related!

We had Lucas Sills over to play the same day, which added up to quite the peanut gallery!

Clara started a new gymnastics class just after Thanksgiving, and we may have found her perfect sport. She's fearless enough to run the length of the balance beam (much to her coach's alarm), quirky enough to embrace cavorting around in a leotard, and totally enamored with watching herself do somersaults in the floor-to-ceiling mirrors.

All of the kids continue to love "practicing" the piano... whether it's compositions of their own creation, or simple classics that Uncle Matt drew up with letters on notes ... the letters are temporarily glued to the corresponding keys on the piano.

We received lots of board games for Christmas, but "The Penguin Game" is still a crowd favorite!

Much of the time, Molly either has her nose buried in a book...

... or she's exploring the kitchen cabinets and drawers.

Daddy took this lucky little girl for a late-night (read: 7 pm) expedition to the grocery store all by her lonesome. It may have been one of the highlights of her life to date.

Who could resist taking a picture of this cutie? I'm finding that she's the one the camera turns to most these days, mostly because she's so cooperative!

Loving ice cream!

While Clara loves her own big girl bike as well as Daddy's SuperBike, she's not above a little tricycle action.

We're looking forward to a January full of chess classes, Joey's first foray into basketball, indoor soccer times two, and the chaos of life with three kidlets!
