Since I haven't shared at all since September, I'll take a stab at a "highlight reel" of the last couple of months!
This fall, Joey was a renaissance man with sports, playing three at the same time, yikes! As you can see, he didn't seem to mind! Especially since one of them was a sport he's been begging to play for a while -- football! I guess that arm he has from baseball helps a lot when throwing passes as a quarterback... he played that position a lot, even as a first-year player. He also made the "A" team for basketball in October, and wrapped up a low-key fall baseball season with his All-Star buddies from the summer.
Amazingly, he still had time to snuggle with his sisters (a lot) AND run for Student Council at his new school. He dressed for success for his posters, and went with the slogan, "Vote for Joe Cool, he'll be good for your school!" and came in 4th out of 14 candidates, earning him the Alternate spot. While he was disappointed he didn't win, we were thrilled he was confident enough to run for student office just two months into a brand new school!
The girls both played soccer this fall, wowing us with their fierceness on the field! These blondies were both factors in each game!
The girls also made their cheerleading debut at Campolindo football game in the fall, and had a blast. The night was capped off by Clara's classic blonde observation at the end of the game: "Wow, my hands feel so light without pom-poms!"
We joined the crowds at the Marina Green in the City at the end of October to watch the Blue Angels fly, and Clara took over camera duty.
We even hit up Daddy's new office, where the kids were wowed that he had not only a desk but also a minifridge, candy, a view, and a conference table!
Dance is suddenly becoming a THING in this house, with two little girls in leotards and tights multiple days of the week. Luckily, we have elaborate carpools set up, which makes life a little easier for all the moms involved! Clara's crew usually comes over after school on Tuesdays for a snack, and then retreats to her room to get dressed before I drive them all to the studio. Having this many 2nd grade girls around every week has been fascinating and a huge educational experience for Joey, who can't help himself... he HAS to be at the island if snacks are being served, even if it means being the only boy.
Molly's crew of kindergarten girls is equally fun!
Joey embraced his middle name on All Saints Day in November by creating a poster all about St. Ignatius, and it was even briefly donned by our bishop, a Jesuit!
The "big kids" got to join Tim and me at a Warriors game at the beginning of their phenomenal season!
And finally, board games just keep getting more and more fun, especially on dark winter nights. New favorites include Clue, Beat the Parents, Monopoly, along with our old standbys, Ticket to Ride and Settlers of Cataan! There's no faster way to get everybody in jammies than to announce that a board game is at stake!
